They even made me take off my flip flops this time. Every time through airport security is worse. It doesn't make me feel any securer at all really. It's just a hassle, and something of a joke. They have one of these big explosive trace portals set up in lane six through the security checkpoint, but they let people go through whichever lane they want. Everyone who goes through that scan, CHOSE to go through that scan. Clearly, if I were a terrorist and had explosives on me, I would NOT go through the line that takes me through the machine that would detect the explosives. In the meantime, it's just annoying for the rest of us, and it smells bad inside.
I got my bag rummaged through, and they discovered that I had packed a full size tube of toothpaste. My mistake, should have stowed that in my checked luggage, and so they confiscated it. But there's not any special disposal or any way to collect these confiscated items that have been deemed so dangerous and potentially explosive that they have to be confiscated. Nope, instead the TSA monkey just tosses it into the nearest trash bin. Clearly no one believes at all that the items they are confiscating are dangerous. But well, if they are, at least the trash bin is better than donating them to charity.
