Beat reporting takes a pretty heavy toll on people, I guess, but I wasn't really expecting any more people to quit after Campus Team lost someone early in the semester. You figure, if someone has lasted the first two and half months, they should be good for the rest of the time. Apparently not.
At today's meeting, the one girl we had all been expecting to leave has finally officially taken her leave from the Daily Pennsylvanian. Another reporter who I hadn't expected anything of the sort from has also left. And another reporter was missing from the meeting and his name didn't have any stories listed by it. He will probably be a write off as well.
So cutting a team of ten reporters down to seven makes for a lot more work for the rest of us.
Edit: So apparently campus team also lost the Greek Life reporter. And my editor insists that "girl we had been expecting to quit" doesn't count as a quit, becuase she was never really there, which is more or less true. Anyway, that makes the tally two for city and two for campus. And the reason one of our reporter's quit is incredibly stupid. Apparently six blocks is too far for him to walk on a regular basis... excuse me? I do that multiple times a day, and I'm sure there are people who have to walk further.
