Right? Do people do this anymore? Just have a real conversation? I won't be trite and call it a deep conversation or a heart-to-heart or man-to-man, or any other label. Just a conversation between two people where something substantive is actually said. Not a debate where two opposing world views collide into noise, or even worse a head nodding competition where both sides too afraid of offending find out they agree on nearly everything.
And let's not even get into the issue of groups talking. That's almost more of an exhibition and a show than anything approaching a real conversation. People just joke and laugh and in general the person they are speaking to is the last one on their mind after all the other people who are watching them speak. And I'm probably guilty of this more than anyone else.
Maybe I just have no friends to talk to, or am incredibly anti-social, but I don't think that's it. Real conversations, one on one, are just hard for me now.
Hey, this is just me, but has anyone else felt the same?

real conversation, like romance and the happy ending, is something best left to books and mass media.

you have one on one conversations all the time. I don't know like what you want or expect. People just talk about what is on their mind and a conversation doesn't have to be deep all the time. Most of the time tney are just people enjoying life together. you have to stop worrying about trying to accomplish something during a conversation, not everything has to have a meaning.
